Paper Players Challenge- A Sketch by Nance

Wow!  Two weeks away from the computer has flown by and I am back!  My hubby and I had a great time on the Oregon Coast and then spent this past week fishing at a lake about 4 hours from our home.  It was lovely.  I have to say, I was pretty proud to be the lead fisher "person" with 3 fish caught!!  Yippee!  And they were BIG trout!  It was exciting and they were sure yummy cooked on the campfire!  Corey has the camera, he and his dad are off ocean fishing today, but I will add some photos of our trip(s) as soon as the camera is back!

Today at the Paper Players Nance has created a terrific sketch for us to try!  I made a card for it a LONG time ago, right when I first saw her wonderful sketch!  I changed up the ribbon placement, mostly because of memory problems, but I am happy with how the card turned out!!!  I hope you like it too! My card club made this card for their last class.  We were doing watercolouring, I used Tangerine Tango and Peach Parfait for my colour choices.

Inkspirations Sketch Challenge #77-Creative Elements

The courier came today with a brand new stamp set for me! Yippee!  Who doesn't love new rubbah?!  I actually just placed my first order with the new Stampin' Up catalogue and am expecting it this week.  This stamp set called "Creative Elements" is one I earned as a demonstrator and I am so happy I chose it out of the book! I can see many possibilities for it!!

I have been so busy with the end of the school year and moving my classroom that I have not had the chance to be creative, other than commitments. So it was nice to choose a fun challenge and play along! I decided to try my hand at the Inkspirations Challenge Blog, such wonderful DT samples, I loved the sketch and thought it would work well with my new stamp set!

I decided to use Blushing Bride, Crumb Cake and Chocolate Chip as my colours, a nice classic combo to break in my new set!  I also used the En Francais stamp which is another favourite of mine.

This week at Picture Perfect Creations, we have a bright and pretty colour challenge for you! I racked my brain but kept coming back to my wee teacup stamp!  I love it!

My card is clean and simple, showing one little stamp that I think is super cute!!!  I stamped the teacup in Regal Rose and Real Red inks and stamped them all over the whisper white paper.

Paper Players Challenge #55-For Jake

Happy Sunday!!  Today is supposed to be a beautiful sunny day here and I am ready for it!!  On Monday, July 4th, it was my best friend's birthday, she turned...thirtysomething...and I needed a cute card for her!  Jake is a sweet person and so I decided to make a sweet card for her!  We have been best friends for almost 30 years!  Wow! That is crazy to think about! LOL!

This week at the Paper Players I am the hostess and chose the colours from a brand new Stampin' Up scrapbooking kit called "Tickets and Tags".  I decided this would be a great colour combo for a cheery birthday card!

I used Basic Gray as my "Accent" colour to highlight the Poppy Parade and the Baja Breeze colours.  The Baja card base is embossed with dots to match the Poppy Parade DSP.

I also finished the inside of the card with more designer paper to match!  And here is the picture of the finished card below.  I've not been able to see my best friend to give her this card and present yet, maybe sometime this week!

Today's the BIG day!!!

I am so honoured to be the Guest Artist over at Pals Paper Arts this week!  This week they have a terrific colour combo that is one of my favourites!!!! I just LOVE working with blues!

I decided to create a "clean vintage" styled card. I was trying to capture my "Style", but I am not sure if I did?  My favourite stamp set is the "Elements of Style" set and I knew that I wanted to watercolour the floral image with Bashful Blue and Marina Mist.  The bottom of the card is covered with velum and the sentiment is stamped in Marina Mist.

I used the French Foliage set too, for the script writing and the postage stamp.  I love that set too and I recently realized that I need to get more of those realistic styled stamps.  I think they are so pretty! I used my scoring blade and added some score lines to the whisper white base piece.

On a personal note, I have had the most wonderful surprise this week. I received a job that I had applied for and never thought I would win!  It is very exciting yet bittersweet.  I loved my school this year and it is hard to leave. My new school is minutes from my home and somewhere I have happily worked at in the past. I never thought I would make it back there!! Amazing!

I hope you get the chance to come over to the Pals Paper Arts blog this week to join in on this wonderful colour combo!! Thank you so much to Mary, Ann and the entire Pals team for having me on board this week!  I am excited to see what everyone creates!

Thanks for stopping by!!!

Colour Dare #101-Certainly So Marina and CPS Sketch

Due to blogging issues last week, this challenge never went live on the CD blog, so we are reposting it this week.

This week at the Colour Dare, Riley has a really pretty colour combo of;

Marina Mist
Certainly Celery
So Saffron

I immediately thought of making a baby card but then I decided to make a card using the current CPS Sketch Challenge.  The sketch is awesome and one that would provide so many cool card creations!  I decided that little circle should be the biggest flower from the new "Flower Fest" stamp set that is available in the current Summer Mini Catalogue!

I dug up some retired SO Saffron DSP and a small piece of Pear Pizzazz which I subbed in for Celery.  The main flower was stamped three times on Whisper White CS and then I punched out the first flower with the 2 3/8" scallop circle punch and cut out the other two layers by hand!  Vicki Burdick made THIS card and she lightly coloured part of the flower, and I love the look, so I tried that here with my Bashful Blue SU! marker.  A few pearls and a punched out sentiment was all I needed to complete the card! What a fun colour combo and what a terrifc sketch!!!

PPC #64- Thinking of "Blue"

This week at Picture Perfect Creations we have a fun colour combo that had me stumped for a while!!! I was all over the Suede, Peach and Cherry colours but how would I fit in the Blue?  I decided to ink up my "French Foliage" stamp set and used the blue as an accent for the postage stamp image in the set!

I also used some Peach Parfait DSP from the Paisley Petals pack.  I love this pretty pattern and chose it first when I began my card.  The leaves are rock and rolled in Cherry, Peach and Soft Suede inks so they worked perfectly with this combo.

We hope that you will join the Picture Perfect Creations this week!  Please be sure to visit the other DT Members to see their wonderful creations!

The Paper Players #54-Christmas in July

This week at the Paper Players, Jaydee is challenging us to go "Christmas"!  So I was looking through my stash of Christmas stamps, trying to decide what to use when I came across this "Best Dad Ever" set.  Then I thought of all the tacky ties that show up at Christmas time and I went to work!

I inked up the tie stamp with my Cherry Cobbler and Old Olive markers.  I should have used Poppy Parade to make the ties really gaudy!  And some glitter on the ties would have been fun! LOL!  This could be used as a card for a man at Christmas...might be kinda cute!

FM#13-Let's Hear it for Red, White and Blue

Happy Canada Day!
This week at the Friday Mashup the team is being Patriotic!  But I am a Canadian and I realized that I do not own any Canada Day Stamps!  So I decided to just use the colours Red, White and Blue to make a sweet thank you card tonight!!!

This week for the Mashup Challenge, you are welcome to:
   1. Create a project featuring the colors Red, White & Blue.
   2. Create a Patriotic themed Project for (any Country).
   3. Or "Mash it Up!" and create a Red, White & Blue, Patriotic Project.

I stamped a Marina Mist turtle, the whale from the Fox and Friends set didn't look as cute as the turtle, I wanted his spots to go with my DSP.  Sorry for the bright photo, I was taking it outside on the run!!!

We hope that you will join the Friday Mashup this week!  Please be sure to visit the other DT Members to see their wonderful creations!
